Tony Ruggieri

President and Co-Founder

Tony Ruggieri is our owner, president and co-founder at Ruggieri Financial Group. He started the firm in 2012 and strives each and every day to represent our firm’s and his own last name with pride. On a day-to-day basis, you will probably find Tony meeting with our valued clients, most of whom are heads of households and small business professionals. “I partner with, help, guide and advise families and businesses to navigate their way to financial success. More often than not I act as financial oversight in their lives, providing them with the help they need to enjoy their present lives and prepare for the future,” Tony says.

Tony believes that everything begins with a conversation. Conversation and communication are the keys to unlocking any healthy relationship, and the relationship between clients and advisors is no different. Sometimes it takes more than one conversation, which he says is all part of the process. “Sure, money is important, but it’s more important to have a life that serves you and your family. Part of that is understanding people and the way they wish to live and love,” Tony says.

The process at Ruggieri Financial Group also includes custom plans tailored to each individual client. No two clients are the same, and everyone has a different way of navigating their careers and lives. Luckily, Tony’s commitment to have multiple conversations is just one factor in his ability to assist clients on their way to their dreams. Though he brings two decades of financial services experience to his role, he sees support as a major part of his job and believes that anyone can find happiness with the right methods and relationships.

Tony holds his Series 65 and life and health licenses, working in Arizona and California. He is also a certified financial educator and an investment advisor representative. One of his deepest passions is using all three of his titles and certifications in unison, giving him the opportunity to combine his financial expertise with his heart that lies in teaching. After all, he is a former teacher and school principal and finds it satisfying when the financial and educational sectors of his world combine.

His main goal is simply summarized with one word: wellness. As a financial professional, he sees clients treading water in a sea of uncertainty, stress, fear and anger and believes that clarity is the antidote. “I wouldn’t be doing my job if I wasn’t constantly educating. It’s one thing to design a financial plan for a client. It’s a completely different relationship when we both understand their situation and their goals. Then we can tackle them together as a team,” Tony says.

Originally born in California, Tony grew up in Texas and now lives in Scottsdale, Arizona. He attended San Diego State University for college and received a bachelor’s in psychology and biology and a master’s in education, stemming his love for learning. It even propelled him to begin a career as a science teacher and athletic coach, both of which gave him experience he still uses as he educates his clients. He has been married to his lovely wife Inma for nearly 30 years, and the two have two beautiful daughters together.

In his free time, Tony enjoys camping, hiking, boating and driving his Jeep. His time in Texas and Arizona have turned him into an avid outdoorsman, always finding new places to experience Mother Nature. He doesn’t take the gorgeous landscapes and weather for granted, always making the most of every day.

Tony is also extremely interested in health and fitness, doing his absolute best maintain a healthy body and mind. “It all goes back to my philosophy of wellness. To be well, you have to understand yourself and your goals. The same goes for my clients. We aim to understand ourselves and be the best that we can be, improving a little bit every single day,” Tony says. “That’s how we accomplish everything we want to achieve.”

What do I do with my 401(k)?

You’ve built up your 401(k) with your employer, but it’s time to leave or retire. What you decide to do with your nest egg is one of the most important decisions for your financial future. Don’t risk losing as much as 40% of your retirement fund to taxes. We can help you evaluate different options to see which best serves your unique goals, and the answer to what you should do with withdrawn funds is different for everyone. Book a meeting with us today to discuss custom strategies for your unique situation.

Will my IRA be enough?

While it’s ideal to have a few sources of income fueling your retirement, for many their IRA is their sole source of savings. So, the big question is always, “Will it be enough?” We can review your financial resources with you, investigate other potential income sources and let you know exactly what you will need to live the retirement you’ve always imagined.

I’ve been laid off from my job. What do I do now?

Being laid off from a job is a stressful event. Your world is turned upside down, and you worry how you will survive without that steady paycheck. If you received an exit package, you have important decisions to make. Do you have a 401(k) you need to move? While it’s easy to dwell on your job loss, it’s best to focus your energy on your future. We can help you establish a new direction depending on your goals and experience.

How will I plug a pension gap?

Company pension plans, once counted on to fund a worker’s retirement lifestyle, are dwindling to record-low levels. If you are lucky enough to work for a company that offers one, we congratulate you. But we also know there may be a gap between the income that pension provides and what you will need in retirement. We can help you close that gap with a plan to generate additional income in retirement.

How big is my retirement shortfall?

The earlier you start, the more successful you will be in recognizing a downfall and building a plan to remedy it. But how do you know if you will have one…and how deep that shortfall might be? We use advanced software to tell us exactly where you stand, both now and in the future. Then we let you tell us how you plan to speed up your retirement.

Will my money last as long I you do?

Medical advances mean we are all living longer. Did you know that if a couple reaches age 65, it’s likely at least one of them will live into their 90s? Do you have a plan to make your money last as long as you do? We can help you find strategies that can allow you protect your wealth and your savings to fight longevity risk and make your money last for the rest of your life.

How will inflation impact my retirement?

This may be one of the most important questions you will ask, because what good is a plan if all it provides is a benefit in today’s dollars, not in future dollars when everything is likely to cost more. Because we have access to a wide range of products, and are independent in our recommendations, we introduce you to strategies that can help your income fight the effects of inflation.

How will taxes affect my income and cash flow?

One of the most difficult things for people thinking about retiring is changing their mindset from an accumulation phase to a distribution phase. As you plan for or enter retirement, your focus should be on allocating assets to emphasize safe and secure streams of income and developing strategies to minimize any potential tax impact so you can keep as much of the wealth you’ve built as possible. While we can’t eliminate your tax obligation entirely, we may be able to help you trim your bill and help you keep more of your hard-earned money.
